Although it may not be easy managing a full-time schedule with creative passions, Arizona-based photographer Silas Rodriguez has learned to do both with great success. Their award-winning photography consists of stunning individual and family portraits, wedding and engagement photos, travel photography, and more. Their work can be found on Instagram at @silas__ramirez. As a multi-disciplinary artist, Silas also works in various creative mediums including UX design, graphic design, and acrylic painting.

Silas is self-described as assertive, meticulous, and outspoken. They strive to create artwork that is both visually appealing and emotionally resonant. Silas believes art has the power to bring people together, creating a sense of understanding and unity within a community. About their intention with this work, Silas says, “I am passionate about creating meaningful art that speaks to the human condition.”

Silas’s creative journey began in childhood, as they were always fascinated by the colors, shapes, and textures around them growing up. From there, Silas gradually developed a passion for creating art and expressing themself through different creative outlets. One of their artistic inspirations is Mexican filmmaker and author, Guillermo del Toro, director of Pan’s Labyrinth. About his work, Silas says, “He has made an indelible mark on the film industry. His work has been praised for its imaginative storytelling and unique visual style.”

As a professional artist living in a modern world, Silas says that their biggest challenge has been finding a way to stay creative and inspired while managing a fully-packed schedule. As they juggle from creating art, having a career, maintaining their family life, and completing a full-time university course load, Silas has had to learn to prioritize and manage time more effectively. “The key to success,” says Silas, “is having a clear vision, setting realistic goals, and believing in yourself.”

Silas also advises aspiring artists to network with mentors and role models. Both of these support systems can prove very helpful in providing guidance throughout an artist’s journey. Additionally, Silas advises creatives to learn from fellow artists and stay up-to-date on the latest trends of their fields. “Do not forget to enjoy the process - it's not just about achieving success, but also about having fun while doing it!” says Silas.

When Silas is not behind the camera, they can also be found tending to their Arizona-native plants! Silas has a passion for desert gardening and draws much of their inspiration for photography from the natural environment around them. In their gardening, Silas experiments with different types of plants and cacti and enjoys learning about various techniques for growing them in the desert. In addition to admiring the beauty of the desert landscape, Silas explains, “I find it fascinating to observe how plants can survive in such a hostile environment.”

Silas is currently working on a rebranding project, which will enable them to reach more people and create a lasting impression on followers and clients through their art. The new identity for the brand will bring all their art into one cohesive package. “By utilizing multiple mediums,” Silas describes, “I will be able to showcase my work in a more comprehensive way than ever before.”

One of the most inspiring lessons Silas has learned from being an artist is that creativity is a never-ending journey. “Every day is filled with new ideas,” they remark. Throughout their own creative journey, Silas has produced an absolutely beautiful collection of art and photographs, and will continue to create artwork using their unique voice and attention-to-detail.
