Practice
As with anything, practice makes perfect! Although it may seem like an easy task, walking down a long catwalk in front of hundreds of people is quite intimidating and takes skill. By practicing, you will refine your skills and build confidence for the big show. Find an appropriate space and practice walking in similar outfits and shoes/heels that you will be wearing during the show. Be sure to practice your runway facial expressions and stances until they become second nature.
Find Inspiration

When it comes to developing an iconic runway walk, inspiration is key. Take a look at videos of models walking down the runway and find styles that resonate with you and make sure to take notes as to what you feel would be the best walk for you to start out. From there, find ways to make it your own, give it some flare, but make sure you stay professional.
Be Confident
Confidence is key when strutting down the runway! Believe in yourself and take pride in every step you take down the runway. Even if something goes wrong during the show, stay confident and keep walking like everything is going according to plan. A strong presence combined with poise, will make heads turn no matter what happens. When you don’t look confident on stage, it can seem like you are nervous and people will be able to see that. Captivate the audience with your confidence even if that means not having the best runway walks to begin with. Confidence comes with more practice!

Focus On Posture
Stand tall with your chin up as if there is an invisible string attached from the top of your head lifting you up off the ground. Make sure your shoulders are pulled back slightly; this will open up your chest area which will give off a more confident essence - plus, it helps elongate your body and gives off an air of elegance.
Focus On The Vision
Focus on the vision behind the particular show. Designers put together shows with specific visions in mind. These themes can range from bold statements about current trends, edgy couture pieces, classic beauty looks, or simply showcasing new collections. Be sure that whatever moves and poses you come up with reflect those visions accurately and tastefully, creating a truly unique and iconic runway walk.
Take these tips into consideration when perfecting your runway walk, but remember that it is important to make it your own and to try to stick out from the crowd. There are usually dozens of models per show, but with some extra effort, you can stand out from everyone else. Most of all, be confident in yourself and have fun. If modeling and runways are what you are passionate about, it should be something that you enjoy!
